Women in a Changing World - Asolo Repertory Theatre

Multi-Generational • Fuel Your Body, Brain and Soul • Secrets to Success • Humanitarianism

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County Women Ambassadors support the work of five Boys & Girls Clubs in Sarasota County (BGCSC) and four after-school programs in Title I schools. Hosted by Women Ambassadors, one of BGCSC's annual events is a panel discussion called Women in a Changing World, an engaging and inspirational event featuring women from diverse backgrounds and careers. While women, especially those in school, embarking on their career paths or simply want to make a change, will benefit from hearing about empowerment and secrets of success to be shared by these trailblazing women, this event is not just for women. Our upcoming panel discussion is on October 7, 2016. Hayley Weilgus of the local ABC7 affiliate is the moderator, and Gail Devers, former three-time gold-medal Olympic athlete, is one of the panel members (see all panel members below). Past speakers have included Amy Robinson, Independent producer of films such as JULIE AND JULIA and FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME; Neale Godfrey, NY Times best-selling author and founder of the Children’s Financial Network, Inc., Lucille O’Neal, speaker, author and mother of Shaquille O’Neal; Nomi Bergman, Founder/President of Brighthouse Networks; and Alex Sink, former Chief Financial Officer of the State of Florida.

BGCSC's Women Ambassadors have pledged to support the Boys & Girls Clubs’ programs, specifically the new Tom & Debbie Shapiro Career Resource Center, where members can improve their core skills (communication, interpersonal, time management, problem solving and interview) and receive vocational training which will stand them in good stead as they pursue higher education or compete for competitive community employment after high school graduation.
